Plaspak™ packaging system

Plasplugs commitment to become a more environmentally aware company took huge steps forward with the launch of our Plaspak™ packaging range. This was a big shift away from the traditional packaging methods, with Plasplugs leading the way as always. Plaspak™ benefits include:


• Reduced environmental impact - 100% reduction in PVC blister 97% reduction in paper/card
  
• Strong enough for consumers to handle in store prior to purchase... and no need to open product
  
• Uses up to 40% less display space than previous packaging
  
• Radio frequency tags can be included on all products ... at no extra cost, reducing potential shrinkage by up to 50%
  
• Advanced security screw ensures that product and hanger ALWAYS stay together - Less chance of returns as packaging (card & blister) is no longer used

As well as reducing the amount of waste packaging we produce, all of our factory’s aim to promote high standards of energy efficiency management.

Following an audit in November 2007 by the Clifford Talbot Partnership (on behalf of the Carbon Trust) we identified a number of opportunities for us to reduce energy consumption by up to 7.8%. We are currently addressing these issues by investing significantly in new equipment to help us achieve our targets.

Recycling is also big on our agenda with over 95% of the waste cardboard packaging that we handle sent for recycling.   We even recycle our old broken wooden pallets which are turned into sawdust and used for pet bedding etc. Last year we recycled approximately 35 tonne of paper/cardboard and 50 tonne of wood.
